I happen to be a counterexample to just about everything you say hereOriginally posted by mtuggle86 View PostIm sure I prob wouldnt break with it 315 street tires on it but theres really no need to beat on it anyways if I want to play around I go hit the freeway even on street tires if you do it enough over time somthing will give if not the rear end its hard on the clutch you she my point? I know im being a little anal its just I see dumbass kids all the time that have no respect for how things work and just abuse there shit and when it breaks they take it to a shop and have it fixed cause they dont know shit and in 5 years there nomaly left with ragid POS car BTW its a cobra most of the time
1) My car doesnt come out of the garage without lighting the tires up... yea thats a rule
2) I also lose traction in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears after shifts.
3) Im a "kid" and Ive replaced my own clutch
4) 93,000 miles on the original 10 bolt and it has no whine, clunking or any problems whatsoever. My car is in perfect shape.
The people that blow 10 bolts are the people that do 5000+ RPM clutch drops (you only need about 2k) or the people that run sticky tires. I had a set of drag radials for about a week and immediately sold them - it really didnt like it. Street tires are a million times more forgiving.
I do however understand and respect the fact that you take care of your car. I too have spent FAR more time maintaining mine than i do actually driving it. Im a believer that cars do not wear out, they are neglected to death.-Joel

yea i know
but dont think babying it will get out of a clutch change - honestly the stock clutches are weak. My buddies LS1 clutch was toast at 40k, although i admit he drove it hard towards its end.
I changed my clutch before it was even worn out, it just slipped all the time.-Joel

ls1 clutchs are weak. I would almost bet everything that all stock ls'1 clutchs have 3 wear points on the flywheel/pressure plateOriginally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Postyea i know

I know it wont get me out of changing a clutch its not that at all im not worried about doing it. It just seems like driving a car you can tell the difference between one thats been ran alot and one thats treated like a baby in Most cases. Now somebody is going to argue about this I know but its mho id like to maximize the good miles I have with my car before I have to start working on it more then I drive it Like my last car On it I did ATX>MTX trans swap engine swap clutch fuel pump just about everything since then I cant stand to run my stuff very hard even if Ill prob get away with itLast edited by mtuggle86; January 30th, 2009, 06:06 PM.01 NBM Base SS build #514 M6 Pat G/EPS 230/234 111+4 Cam, LS2 Heads, Tick Master,Extreme Chassis 8.8 with 4.30's, BMR LCA And Torque Arm, Edelbrock PHB, FIPK intake, Ported TB. no you are absolutely correct about that. however, with exception of chasis flex that developes over time, most of those symptoms can be fixed. Things like worn engine mounts can make a car feel sloppy, and youd never expect it.Originally posted by mtuggle86 View PostI know it wont get me out of changing a clutch its not that at all im not worried about doing it. Let me correct myself At some time Ill prob take my car to the track but Im deff not going to run it every week the more you run them the better the odds are somethings going to give some dont some do Ive heard of people running In the 10's on a 10 bolts but Ive seen near stock cars getting unlucky and snaping theres for me I'd the rather just go jump on a freeway on ramp and let it out a little bit and keep my car feeling tight but to each his ownLast edited by mtuggle86; January 30th, 2009, 06:17 PM.01 NBM Base SS build #514 M6 Pat G/EPS 230/234 111+4 Cam, LS2 Heads, Tick Master,Extreme Chassis 8.8 with 4.30's, BMR LCA And Torque Arm, Edelbrock PHB, FIPK intake, Ported TB. There's a handful of spooky fast cars around me...one of 'em is (I think) Larry's buddy...1BADWS6...I think...see him on occasion during the summer.
But maybe the baddest is a 1970 Buick Grand Sport Stage I pro street...you can hear him coming from literally a 1/4 mile away...Originally posted by Redd8407I WANT NOISE! SPEED! francis (1badws6 plate nosws6 SN) hasn't been out for awhile. they finally hurt the stock shortblock(9.8's i think) and put another together but a lifter or something broke in the new one.Originally posted by 81DaytonaPaceCar View PostThere's a handful of spooky fast cars around me...one of 'em is (I think) Larry's buddy...1BADWS6...I think...see him on occasion during the summer.

Unfortunate they hurt the block...did they get the record or no?
First time I saw that car, I was behind him at Williams Lake and Dixie going east (I wish I was making this up)...and a circa 2000 Mustang of some sort was playing with him at the light...Francis had 2 lengths on him before he left 1st gear.
A very impressive car.Originally posted by Redd8407I WANT NOISE! SPEED! AN ENGINE THAT SHAKES MY INTERNAL ORGANS LIKE THEY GOT PARKINSON'S!
