  • 25th Anniversary TA production info......

Just thought I'd pass along a little 25th Anniversary TA knowledge to everyone...Hope you enjoy!!

Production of the 25th Anniversary TA was announced on Jan 7, 1994.

It would be built on the highly contented Trans Am GT package (RPO #-Y83 for coupes and Y84 for convertible), and also sported a bright white interior with "25th Trans Am" embroidery on the front seatbacks and door panels.

The 25th Trans am paid tribute to the first 1969 Trans Am, with its blue center stripe and white paint scheme. Other exterior styling cues included the gray 25th door decals, blue Trans Am door badging, and specific 16" 5 spoke white wheels with the anniversary decal on the center cap. In order to get the 25th Anniversary package RPO #-B71 would have to be chosen at time of ordering, and the buyer would have to pony-up an additional $995 over the price of the Trans Am GT.

The 25th TA would also carry on Pontiacs long standing tradition of serving as the pace car for the 1994 Daytona 500.

Production numbers break down as follows:

      That is some neat info
A lady that worked with my wife had a coope and trashed the living hell out of it but wouldn't sell me the car
      She liked it too much

How did the Ram Air hood come into play or is that aftermarket?

        And promptly made a Sticky.

And, yes, manual transmissions are rare in all 4th gens, but especially rare in verts.

        The hood is aftermarket.

That's what I thought but didn't know if it was a "special" deal.
          Thanks Jeff.

Well, value is in the eye of the beholder. But manual trans are getting more and more rare as the years go on. Many people don't even know how to drive one.

It really just starts being noticable in the verts.

#1, they really didn't make that many verts to begin with, and #2, they made even less manual trans verts.

For example, in 2002 there were 30,690 Firebirds built.

Of that, only 998 Trans Am verts were built.

Of that, only 235 verts were built with a manual transmission (roughly 25%).

Compare that to a total 3962 Trans Am coupes built, of that 1591 had a manual transmission (roughly 45%).

If you want and go get a as-close-as-you-can-get to a future collectable, find a manual trans vert.

But historically speaking, a manual transmission does usually command a slight premium over an automatic...maybe +10%.

Yes M6 cars usually commend more $$$$ than auto cars. Look at ebay or autotrader.com, m6 cars are always 1000 to 2000 more than a comparable auto car. Just remember, m6 doesnt mean its faster

M6's have been pulling more on the market since I started looking in 2003. They only make up approx 13% of production if I remember correctly, and many have had a rough life already.

whats funny is auto makers charge more usally for an auto but in realality a manual trans costs more. but they figure people will pay more for the convenience

Probably because an automatic was an option when it came out. It was a premium to be able to have a car with an automatic trans. I'm not sure they are more expensive to build over an auto but since the majority of owners would rather have an auto, why not charge more?
