  • LT1 Valve Stem Sizes?

OK, I got royally owned today... went to start assembling the heads and the valve stem seals I have are waaaaaay too small.

So now the question... Summitracing lists almost all of their valve stem seals as .530" - mine are .550" - .565" at the least (I've never read a micrometer, so maybe someone can give me a clearer estimate based off of the pics below).

Why are my valve guides so much bigger?

    Outside Diameter of Valve Guide:

Inside Diameter of Stock(??) Valve Stem Seals:

Inside Diameter of Edelbrock 9758 inner diameter:

the stem /guide is 8mm i believe. Are you talking the outer diameter were the seal installs? The seal should be slightly smaller cause you have to pound them on

According to a guy on CamaroZ28, the aftermarket stem seals for the LT1 are all wrong - either .530 or .560 and neither are right for the stock guides.

I'm going to send Angie to the parts department on monday to get replacement stem seals straight from GM.

B, you might end up waiting 3-7 days from the dealer
They don't keep that stuff in stock.

Someone on camaroz28 gave me a part # for fel pro valve stem seals that work so I went to murrays and ordered another set. Crossing my fingers that this set will fit!
