  • 97 V6 MAF problem

I have a 1997 V6 camaro with the service engine light on.
When I run a code scan it says a faulty mass air flow sensor, I replaced
with a new one, also cleaned the whole air box ect. and replaced the little
sensor that goes in the air duct. When I clear the code it will run for about 2 or 3 min then the code comes right back. Anyone have this problem before or know what else to do or check. Thanks Jim

Make sure there are no broken wires to the connectors? It may not be getting the signal. The one in the air duct is the air temp sensor.

from the description it sounds like you replaced the incoming air temp sensor, the MAF sensor is on the throttle body. If you did do it correctly my only guess would be a bad connection or corrosion in one of the connectors causing it to send a faulty signal.

            97 Maf problem

The code I was getting was P0102 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Circuit Low Frequency. I dis replace both MAF and the temp sensor, checked the wiring and the connector and they both look good......Thanks

did you hook it up to a meter and see what readings you are getting at all to see if they are in the correct range?

yea you would need one that read's frequency b/c i belive gm's use that to read air flow.

                        Maf problem

No other suggestions on how to check the plug and or wiring? Somebody
has to know what the readings should be.

you need a conector veiw of the maf sensor plug then you need to pin it for ground, 12v, etc.

also check for leaks in the air charge pipe between the T/B and maf.
