  • **helP My car cuts on then cuts right back off**

I have a 94 Chevy camaro Z28 ( LT1 of course) Ok people I'm having a problem where my car starts but cut off after like 10 seconds. When I try to give it gas it hesitate and cuts off. . . I trying to figure out what it would be . . I know my air temperature sensor is not plugged up. I'm working on that now.. Do you all know what else it could be? And do anyone have a picture or diagram to the wires and sensor on the top of the LT1?

What did you do to it? I mean sounds like you did a mod or took something apart.

somethings unplugged somewhere or something I'm betting. Take a short break, then go back and look at it again.

i know you can bypass the smog... but i dont think you can straight up unplug it without a change to the program... your talking the smog pump that puts exhaust gasses back into the intake right? i just took the exhaust pipe off mine and tossed a small filter on the end of it so when it clicks open instead of sucking in exhaust fuems it sucks in clean air... but this was not on an lt1 so im not sure how yours is setup... i know with it just unplugged and unbolted it wouldnt run...

If it's the MAF sensor, it would do what you're describing. . . Make sure it's plugged in. Is the Check Engine light on?

Start checking every sensor on the engine that you may have unplugged, and make sure they are all plugged in. Or you could give me the car, and I'll fix it. . . You'll never get it back, though. . . .

Thats entirely not what it does.

The EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) runs right off the exhaust port and funnels exhaust directly into the intake manifold. Usually the passages are in the heads except on some cars like corvettes.

The "smog pump" (A.I.R. System) pumps fresh air into the exhaust to allow excess fuel to burn up resulting in lower emissions. During startup air is blown into the exhaust manifolds to promote combustion in them and thus heat the O2 sensor up faster. Once the O2 sensor is warm air is diverted to the catalytic coverter where it aids in further emission reduction through combustion of any remaining fuel.

I removed the A.I.R. pump from my thirdgen, along with the associated air injectors in the exhaust manifolds and removed the pipe to the catalytic converter. As for wiring to it, I cut the wires off at the firewall.

No code is thrown & runs perfectly.

Removing the emissions equipment is not your problem. If any of your intake sensors themselves are unplugged this could result. Just go over all the wires in the engine bay and make sure they are secure and connected first off.
