Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

well over thanksgiving break I am ripping this engine out and going to take it to performance engineering in jenison and see what they say about the bottom end.
If the news isn't a quick and cheap fix, I am thinking it is time to give up on the 3.8 and work on swapping in the ls1 I have sitting in a crate.

2005 Malibu - Stock, anyone have a ecotec factory gm supercharger for me? lol
got the engine pulled out today, also took the oil filter off and found some nice surprises, or not really a surprise as I had a hunch it was bearings going bad. Next week I should be able to get it to a local shop and have them check it out and see what I can do about it.
I am getting pretty good at dropping and installing the engine out the bottom though, lol. Wish I didn't have to pull it again but it happens I guess when building engines.
Attached the pics of the oil filter and oil as well as the engine and engine bay
Good luck Travis with getting it resolved with your engine builder. Hopefully he is a stand up guy and not some low-life SOB who will refuse to admit he effed up......like what happened to me.
its hard to say what the engine builder will do, and depending how bad the bearings are, i mean if you look at bearing and their messed up there messed up no if and or butts, whats he gonna say ohh well thats because it was ran rich and washed out the bearing, or is he gonna say yeh the bearings/crank werent inspec and assembled inproperly..... i mean its hard to say / hard to diag. what went wrong and why. but does the oil smell like gas ? or just like used oil ?
Dang it! Travis you are one of the best 3.8L guys out there. Please don't give up on that project just yet. I get giddy inside every time you update us on that car.
I WANT NOISE! SPEED! AN ENGINE THAT SHAKES MY INTERNAL ORGANS LIKE THEY GOT PARKINSON'S! I DONT WANT AN ENGINE THAT IS PARTIALLY POWERED BY MY LAPTOP BATTERY!

I think it is because I take it in and out all the time, the rubber has just stretched out, especially at the bottom where it is really thin. It annoys me more then anything.
engine is pulled out and the builder has reimbursed me some $ and I will have it checked out locally. Lance from abbott's has stood by his work for me and is doing what he needs to to make it right. I will be tearing it down this week and getting it to a shop here in town by the end of the week if all goes as planned.
