Sorry to hear that Travis because I know this feeling far too much but take a day or two and then try and diagnose the problem and hope Abbott stands behind their work, if it is their mistake. If they do nothing then throw a massive fuss about it and see if that "persuades" them.

Hopefully they cover it... Its going to stink having to pull everything apart, and put it back together again. In the end it will be worth it. If they are a legit company they should cover it.

anyone else have any experience with lifters dropping and causing any issues like I am having? I would rather replace some lifters than pull this whole engine out again.

Hard to tell Travis without heaing it in person, but if it's a rattling sound as you describe coming from the bottom end of the motor, it's likey a bearing. Lifters do not make a rattle noise, they clatter and bang like a mofo when they drop.....and it's very notiable from the top of the motor. Bearings sound like a little hammer down inside the motor whacking away....especially under load......but like I said, it's hard to tell without hearing it in person.

I'm sorry Travis. That blows. I am sure Abbot will take care of you though. They seem pretty legit. Godspeed friend!

I would get the car in the air and get under it with a screw driver. Start the car with 1 end of it on the oil pan and the other end of it to your ear. Should tell you real quick if its a bearing.

talked to the engine builder once so far, he said if it was something during the setup of the shortblock that he messed up or caused the issue he would cover it out of his pocket but he wanted me to send the block to him to investigate. If it was something product related and not assembly related he won't cover it.

I sent back to him saying that I want to take it to a local shop and have them check it out and see what the issue is instead of paying to ship it back to TX. I would rather get it straightened out by a shop here instead so I can get it back right away and just have him cover the costs of the inspection and fix

yeah that way you know he doesn;t rp it apart and say that it wasnt his fault either.. an independant shop right now would be the best idea
