  • Need help! Windsheild wipers wont go!!!

Hey guys. I got my car out of storage last night and it rained this morning. I realized that the windshield wipers did not work. The seller told me that there is a chain that drives the wipers under the plastic cover and it just came of the gears. I know it sounds stupid that I believed the guy but now I have to deal with it. It sounds like the motors run because I can hear them running. But the blades don't move. Anybody ever deal with this. I'm headed to the dealership today to have them unlock my stereo and take a look. They want between $40-$80 to look at it for a diagnostic. Anybody ever deal with this before? I need some advice. Thanks.

It could be the motor for the wipers that is out. I have not had this problem.

Last I knew there wasn't a chain, it was all done with a rod system that runs off an offset pin on the motor. Something could have came apart. Either way, I'd go to like Tuffy or something, free estimates.

The guy at autozone said that the cap on that ball must've come loose since I can hear the motors running. I'm gonna take the shield off and see what I can find out.

I went to the dealer today. They said it should not be complicated. They though it may be the module that sends the signal to the wipers. The motors seem fine. I'll keep you posted.

Ben, If you bring it by my work tomorrow between 1 and 9, I can diagnose the problems for you. We do that for free! If you want to stop by my place earlier and take it apart, call me, and we can work something out.

So I took it all apart today! But I still don't know anything. I'm gonna drive it like that until I can afford to have someone take a look. From the Looks of it, I'm gonna have a hard time reaching anything under there without taking off the hood. This is gonna be a pain. Oh well, at least I have clean wheels and an decent alarm system tomorrow.

With the Camaro, if you raise the hood you have pretty good access to the cowl...

At least you guys have pulse wipers. I have the crappy old kind with 2 speeds. Crappy Slow and Crappy Fast. Not mention my fluid sprayer was unhooked and just sprayed my engine compartment instead of the windsheild.

Ben, like I told you, it's the mechanical "rack" that is locked up on it. It probably has never been driven in the rain, so the windsheild wipers locked up on you. We can break it loose this week, I have had to do it before. It's a really simple fix. Let me know when you don't have to work. It'll be next week, because I have work everyday this weekend.
