I am sure this has been covered but could not find it. my car died on the highway last night lost rpm's and coasted to a stop. I think its my cat clogged maybe I smelled something, Starts back up but dies you can hear it puffing but barely idle and then dies no smell of fuel

If you don't have access to a Fuel pressure gauge just get someone to stand under the hood and crack the throttle body a little and spray some starter fluid in it while you turn the key.

If the car stays running its the pump and if it does the same thing your problems are most likely else were.

Might be time to change that fuel filter too.
