my car has an intake oil leak and only has 34,000 miles on it, is this normal? anyone else with this problem?, what is the fix?

Mine had a nasty leak before I changed my heads. When I put the new intake gasket on, I made sure to clean up the surface real well and put a little extra rtv on the back of the manifold when I put it back on. Short of pulling the manifold off and replacing the gasket, I don't see how you can fix it.

i know i will have to replace the gasket, i guess i just want to know what i have to do to keep it from happening again.

Ok, along the back edge (closest to the passenger compartment) make sure it's really clean and free of burrs (I used a very mild file) and put a good bead of high temp sealant back there. It fixed mine right up, doesn't leak at all.

use Permatex "right stuff" to seal it up good

The main thing is that when you set the intake down you don't want to move it if you don't have to.
If you create a small air bubble you will create a gap and have an oil leak.

Make sure it's clean!!!

What I did is set the intake down on the heads and used a marker to out line where the intake sits and then laid down a generous helping of Ultra Black RTV.
Make sure you go about 1" up onto the gaskets so you don't create a gap in the corners.
