  • Heater Hoses, 3800 series II v6

My hoses are cooked. Can't find replacements, and weird twist adapters on engine prevent simply using regular hose. What have other folks done in this situation?

I just replaced both my heater hoses - cost about $160 for the shop to do it. Could have done it myself but the car was already in for other work.
Stop into a shop and ask them if they can replace the parts, if so have them order the parts for you and just pick them up!

I got mine from the dealer some years back. Worst part was figuring out how to remove the torx bolt holding them to the frame of the car. I found another mounting point on the way in. Yeah, that seems like a cheesy mounting for the hoses on the tensioner. Hopefully, you won't have to replace the tensioner, that's a real, well, there's no good word for it. Just not the best sealing setup I've seen, since they run the coolant through the tensioner on it's way back to the water pump.

Here is another altenate to the over priced Dealer "wait to get it" hose assembly... or the goofy looking four foot of hose loop around from the front to the back GM adapter #'s 12570305 & 24504476. Checkout this site http://www.v6fixit.com/ they have a kit I used that was a snap to install.

Ahh I hated this, last winter I had to replace mine and the only thing to do was to replace the entire thing through the dealer or Napa. It is very pricey and I had to bite the bullet
