  • M/T Drag Radials

Im planning on getting the M/T drag radials for my 17" zo6 wheels and i am wondering which set is the better size, the 315 / 35-R17 or the 275 / 40-R17. What do you guys think? and are these tires also ok to be daily driven with? and if so how long will they last with doing a couple track passes and burnouts to warm them up a year? Im going to be buying another car so this one will not be daily driven when it comes out of storage in the spring.

The 315's will give you more tread on the ground, but follow the dips in the road bad. They make my car kinda hard to drive at times. M/T's are the softest drag radial out so my guess is even without DD you'll only get about 1summer out of them. I don't have the M/T's personal, but I am sure many on here do.

      315 needs a 10.5-12 inch wheel.
      don't put them on a 9 inch

275 would be the best size. These tires are just like slicks in the rain. if you are gonna daily drive it the bfg's would be a little better

Get the M/T's and head to the track. If they wear out to fast don't buy them again.

A Moser 9in might be soon after though.

You won't like them in the cold and rain. They'll get hard and slick fast. I HATE driving around the streets with mine. They feel like a pair of marshmellows on the back. I have 255/50/16's on a spare set of 16x8 rims. They awesome at the track but they wear real fast. Mine are to the tread wear bars and I've only driven to and from the track maybe 5 or 6 times and drove on the street for about two weeks. I don't do big burnouts with them either. I just spin them enough to get the junk off them. They're really overkill for my stock LS1. I plan on going with BFG's when these are totally worn out.

I've got Nitto 555R DR's on my car and they work great. They hook better at the track than my MT's did(they were used so who knows how old they were which may have been the problem). I've gotten 1.7 60's on my Nittos. The MT's in the rain were worse than any ice I've ever been on. I haven't gotten caught yet with the Nitto's but they've got more tread so I think they should be a little better. I've got 17x9.5 ZO6's with the 315 nittos, but they do run a little narrower compared to other 315s and there is a little bulge.

Just figured I'd offer them as another suggestion as I beleive most MT's are backordered through the fall.

I'm amazed you hook and like the Nittos. Everyone I know that's had them hated them as track tires. They were OK on the street but not the strip.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I have to do a pretty good burnout and they hook as good as I want with the 10 bolt and 3.42's. I've gotten down to a 1.7 and I still think it's got lower but I don't want to risk it with the stock rear. I think the MT's hooked better on the street, but I like these because a nice, controlled powerslide is nice every now and then. I can still roast them through first if I take off hard, but I think I've got some decent hp so it doesn't bug me.
