  • I just had the worst thing happen :(

I just recently saved my ass off for a year to come up with the money to put a new trans in my car and finally got it in Saturday... well, I just went out to move my car and when I did, I started it up and after idling for a couple of minutes, it developed a serious rod knock. I feel sick to my stomach... There is NO way I can afford to even buy a used shortblock right now. I am simply broke. I don't know what to do. I'm not trying to get sympathy here... I just need to vent. This seriously sucks.

sounds like my luck, anything that can go wrong will and you never have enough money to keep it running all the time. Sorry to hear about it. I'm guessing your positive its rod knock and not just piston slap or valvetrain noise?

Yeah, don't throw in the towel until it's confirmed.

        Still...it sucks...

I hate it, you do something so awesome, that something has to go wrong...

To every action is an equal and opposite reaction. That means every good thing you do, something is bound to go wrong.

It also means if you're a dick to everyone, you're bound to reap tons of positive benefits.

Sucks none the less, though, man.

For some things come so easy. For people like us, crap happens all the time.

I hope its something simple, and not what you think it is.

                Keep us updated.

It *may* be a broken rocker arm/pushrod/lifter on an exhaust valve. I'm pulling the oil filter when I get home this afternoon to see if it has metal shavings from a bearing failure. If not, I'll pull the valve covers and see what's up.

Good news! I pulled my driver's side valve cover and found a broken valve spring. So all I need to do is get a new set of springs and I'm golden! Thank god it wasn't anything major.
