I just recently saved my ass off for a year to come up with the money to put a new trans in my car and finally got it in Saturday... well, I just went out to move my car and when I did, I started it up and after idling for a couple of minutes, it developed a serious rod knock. I feel sick to my stomach... There is NO way I can afford to even buy a used shortblock right now. I am simply broke. I don't know what to do. I'm not trying to get sympathy here... I just need to vent. This seriously sucks.

It *may* be a broken rocker arm/pushrod/lifter on an exhaust valve. I'm pulling the oil filter when I get home this afternoon to see if it has metal shavings from a bearing failure. If not, I'll pull the valve covers and see what's up.Comment

Good news! I pulled my driver's side valve cover and found a broken valve spring. So all I need to do is get a new set of springs and I'm golden! Thank god it wasn't anything major.Comment
