  • Airbag Question???

    Can you install the airbags from a 2000-2002 T/A into a 1999 T/A ?

I belive the air bags stayed the same from 1996-2002.

I put 97 air bags in my 93 and all I had to do was get the right strearing wheel for that air bag.

    I say yes.

I inherited a wrecked 1999 T/A last week and it is going to the frame shop monday morning to get pulled straight so I can install the WS6 front clip. The airbags were also deployed in the accident and need to be replaced. There is a set on eBay from a 2002 but I wasn't sure if they could be installed in the 1999.

i think they can...everything from 96 til 02 should have roughly stayed the same like phantom said... buy a chilton's for the t/a and check in there....should say if the bags are year specific or anything like that..

Check out my Cardomain Pg. in my sig. and you will see my interior.
I bought mine wrecked also and changed it to a WS6 also.

I just checked with my friend down at a local pontiac dealership and he informed me 93-97 were the same, 98 was on its own and 99-02 were the same.

Also keep in mind, BEFORE you put new airbags in it, it needs a new airbag computer (black box), or it needs the current one cleared. Costs about $100, if you just put new bags in one of 2 things will happen, 1: they pop instantly, or 2: they wont work and your AIRBAG light will always be on.

These guys are very reputable and did the airbag computer in my monte for me: http://www.airbagsystems.com/
