Well ive been noticing the bird has been stuttering occasionally at very random increments from time to time.. the other day while i was working on the truck's O2 sensors, the wife took my car to work which is about 20 miles from home.

on her way home that night about 5 miles from the house, the check engine light came on, but went off before she got home and she said the car felt like it was gonna die for about a mile.

i drove it and it was fine, until the light came on and it started missing.. i ran a scanner on it and got a P0300 code, multiple cylinder misfires.

    any ideas?

it just got a tuneup about 2 k ago, and didn't start studdering until about 200 miles ago or so.

First things to check are spark plug wires (might have 1 loose), plugs, and wires, and o2 sensors. Any of those bad could cause the problem. Injectors could cause it, fuel pump, fuel filter, anything! Really could mean anything else like you have a bad valve, damage inside a cylinder, or anything in the valvetrain.

The code really sucks because it is a very broad problem and can mean anything. Basically, it means ther engine took longer or shorter to turn around once than expected.

Another big thing could be voltage. Do you ever have any voltage drops or a big stereo that takes a lot of power, etc?

I would try to scan misfires and see if it really is random or if it is more in a certain cylinder. that could lead down if it is a single cylinder, or not.

Basically one of those codes that says "Yeeeeeaaaaah...There's something wrong...."

I always say it in diagnosing whether it's really it or not I think it's always worth a check - do you have an EGR valve?

damn the computer controlled cars!!!! LMAO

i think i may have narrowed it down to be a loose plug wire. and or plug.. i rememeber when i first bought the car and it was missing randomly at idle. but when you would drive it it was fine, number one plug backed itself out a few turns and was really loose. i thought it was just the guy not torqing it to proper spec, but im wondering if the threads aren't all that strong and allowing the plug to back itself out again. we shall see tonight. i hope it is that simple.

i kinda figured it was a broadsided code. they usually are. lol..

i have no extra draws, and a stock radio system. and the EGR was replaced a few months back.

          ill update tonight.
          thanks guys
