The camaro had a clutch system demon that I couldn't track down. I let it sit for too long, and when I started it up last month, it wouldn't stay running. The body was in shambles, and the car was rusted out beyond my desire to fix it. I sold it for $300 to a local junkyard. I'm putting the Sonoma out at the road today or tomorrow, I'm hoping to get about $900 out of it. That will cover some repairs to the Firebird as well as a decent start towards buying a beater for the winter.
The problem with having a 4WD truck is this: Even when the 4WD is not engaged, all of those drivetrain parts are still being turned. That is a LOT of resistance to be overcome by the engine, and the truck is not going to be as efficient as a 2WD vehicle with the same engine. There are so many more moving parts in a 4WD than a 2WD, and it's not going to get the same gas mileage.Nick H.

So, what should I hope to gain mileage-wise with a set of Pacesetter Long Tube headers, ORY, and a Magnaflow or similar Cat-Back? I'm thinking that I should pull in about 21-23 city with that, assuming I stay out of the throttle like I have been. It cost me about $50 to drive to CSF and back over the weekend. It's only about 1 1/2 hours combined both ways, that shouldn't have cost as much as it did. I'm going to go on a diagnostic run to see if everything is running at peak efficiency.Nick H.

Your probably getting better gas milliage than I am, I get 14-16 mpg in the city with my Iroc, and about 19-20 mpg on the highway.

pull the front driveshaft from the transfer case lol, im half tempted to try this on my jeep to see if it even improves anyOriginally posted by 93formulalt1 View PostThe camaro had a clutch system demon that I couldn't track down. Eh, I'm not even going to bother with it. I'd rather just be done with it. The truck is on Craigslist.
There are too many issues with it, and I really don't want to bother with it. As Joel said when I first got the truck, "That doesn't even look safe." It really isn't something I can trust to get me from A to B when the Firebird can't. Plus, I can use the money I get from the truck's sale to get the Firebird setup a little better for the summer, get better gas mileage, have more fun with it, and finally get to enjoy it rather than neglect the issues it has. I will buy a different beater later this year, as I will be able to decide what I want and save up for it before winter rolls around.Nick H.

if it has the same setup my fullsize truck does, the front driveshaft doesnt even spin in 2WD because the front axle disengages. The only drag you have is the rotation of the front half-shafts...which you cant remove.Originally posted by Syn View Postpull the front driveshaft from the transfer case lol, im half tempted to try this on my jeep to see if it even improves any-Joel

Yeah. Listed it on Craigslist about 15 minutes ago. Hopefully it will be gone so I can pay you a visit, Russell.
It's not worth bothering with, I haven't had good luck with it, even when it was running good, it wasn't. I think it may be due for a transmission rebuild as well.Nick H.
