So I am looking to get a cat back system for my car.(97 LT1) Flowmaster and magnaflow are close in price. I was told that both would sound and perform great, but i want the best for my money. Flowmaster 80 series is supposed to sound a little better, but magnaflow is stainless. WHAT IS THE BETTER BUY?!?!?

My first exhaust was the Flowmaster. They flow like crud, but they soud really good. They don't come with tips.
My current exhaust is a Magnaflow system. The tips are huge and belong on nothing other than a truck. I ordered some Corsa tips and welded those babies on. They look great, but the exhaust is 2x quieter with the smaller tips. Those huge exhaust tips deepened the Magnaflow sound alot at wide open throttle. Maybe I'm just use to driving with my cut out open all the time, but with smaller tips the Magnflow doesn't have that aggressive of a rumble to it.

Magnaflow hands down!!! fit and finish was excellent plus its all stainless.. even the clamps (careful not to break them when tightening)
The sound is low and mellow.. perfect for these cars IMO
I took the extra time to polish the 'blueing' from the heat effected welding zone.. so now everything is 100% shiny. But thats just me

i know i don't have a v8 but I love my exahust system, because of the tone, the stainless steel, and the price is not to bad (compared to borla). plus they have the million mile gaurantee.sigpic
