  • P&P LS1 heads

How well does a ported and polished stock LS1 head flow compaired to a set of aftermarket heads? Looking around on LS1tech I've found a whole lot of people randomly throwing out numbers. I've been told that it goes like this...

Stock LS1 Head< Aftermarket Head < Ported LS1 Head < Ported Aftermarket Head

Any truth to that? If there is I could save myself A LOT of money to port my heads myself. And yes, I've done heads before. I'm not going to give it a shot just to save some money.

An after market casting is almost always going to be a better choice. Even if its not for the flow numbers alone but the deck thickness and the ability to port/mill and just work with them more. But I think stock casting ported's like Patroits are a very good choice for those on a budget.

L92 is a what? 6.0? And why? Just pure flow numbers or a price advantage. Are stock L92 heads cheaper than doing LS1 heads (which are on my engine) and porting them?

l92's on a ls1 don't really work. valve is too close to the cylinder wall.
plus the pistons need to be notched, need a new intake and 8 new rockers

Good to know! Especially seeing this is a budget build.

What heads are you running Larry?

I have some really pathetic patriot stage 2's.
I recommend livernois stage 1 or 2's if you want a stock casting.
only diff between the 1's and 2's are the springs. Notice there numbers are with stock valve size.(important on ls1/6 because of the small bore)
My patriots are not anybetter with a 2.055 valve and the bore shrouds the valve too
