  • ??black smoke @ wot??

ok so every now and then when i punch it and i have a friend behind me, they tell me that there is a huge cloud of black smoke that comes out... now i just figured it was somethign normal just from it having long tubes and being some what of a normal thing.... but i could be wrong like usually so does anyone have any ideas?

the car has 53k miles so i doubt my rings are bad, the ses light isnt on and it will only do it when the gas pedal is absolutly mashed, not even if im reving it..

    thanks gang

Generally, black smoke is a sign of an very rich fuel mixture. Makes sense that it probably only does it under heavy engine load. Do you have cats with the long tubes?

that pretty normal for some car, not sure about LS1s tho. if it aint using more gas than normal or using oil, i woudlnt worry about it being alot of cars do it anyway.

I know my runs rich from idle to about 4500 then starts to lean out.
If I punch it there is a def. cloud that goes out the back and I can see it.

rich is def. it....had ur car code read? see if it has bad o2 sensors, maf senson, etc.? if not try running a less restrictive intake...stock intake systems on a modded engine can cause scavenging of the cylinders at higher rpm....engine just simply cant pull as much air in as it needs.. just tryin to give my 2 cents...
