Alright, so, conferred with mr pace again and im gonna go with this….. ..’mill the head .20 thousands and use a .40 thousands head gasket.’ But that means that ill have to get the cam and heads installed then measure for the pushrods so that those can be ordered. Which means that this is gonna be a longer project than i expected =/ so, yeah, if I have like 2 experienced people helping me out with this, im thinking that the heads and cam could very easily be installed in a day and the rest of the stuff done once the parts come in. Unfortunately, because of the way that summer is looking, I might have to reconfigure the work schedule =/ for this swap. Ive discovered that everybody is generally busy during the weekends, as my summer is littered with family reunions n stuff, I was wondering if any of you would be available during the week? My work schedule is incredibly flexible so I can pretty much work around anything during the week. Lol, the food n booze would still be available, maybe even the sister too
Thanks again, I appreciate everybodys help
Liz

I am milling my heads that much and using a thinner gasket... im not expecting to have to change pushrod length although I *MIGHT* have to. I wouldnt worry about it unless it actually turns out to be a problem. and if it does, youre already aware its not a big deal.
But as a side note. I personally wouldnt mess with the heads on your car. I have 90k on mine so i wanted fresh gaskets...as LT1s are known to let go randomly. LS1 heads flow alot better than LT1 heads... im kinda trying to make up for that by adding some compression. Yes, you will see a *bit* of a gain from milled heads. Im expecting less than 10rwhp from it. Its a lot of brain damage for a marginal gain, pulling heads is a real PITA. Im only doing it because I have a lot of time and i didnt mind an extra couple days of wrenching. The other very important thing you need to consider is that adding compression makes tuning more difficult. If you want this to be a friendly driver, it would be easier to just leave the stock compression. I personally enjoy my car having "personality traits" because its strictly a toy.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; June 23rd, 2008, 03:10 PM.-Joel
