oil leak from filter???

    oil leak from filter???

    ok i did the rear main seal, im not crop dusting anymore. i still seem to be dripping here and there. ive cleaned everything up and it seems like my oil filter will have a drip on the bottom of it after it sits a little while. last time i changed the oil i made sure it was tight and clean. is there anything right there that could be leaking? oil pan gasket doesnt seem to be and neither does the valve covers. i might just have to pull the whole engine this winter if i cant figure it out. thanks.

    i guess i could have put all these in the same post. mods you can merge them if youd like.

    maybe the blockoff plate on the side just above the filter

      You sure you got the old oil filter's gasket off? Heard stories of people thinking they had it off then had leaking problems and it turns out it was still stuck on the engine.

        no i had it off, had a leak so i wanted to make sure. i think i may have tracked it6 down to the front drivers side part of the oil pan gasket. and i think i asked this question already, can i do the oil pan gasket without removing the engine. i see there is no room to get the pan off all the way. ill research it a little more. thanks guys

          On most cars/engines, yes.

          Not 100% familiar with yours.

              It was very hard to on my car. We had it on the hoist and stil sucked. we had to take the motor mount bolts out, jack ou the motor, part of the tranny...Not something I'd like to do again. On an LS1 it could be completely different though.
