  • Wierd Window Problem

When I come home from work I roll up my windows because I have a dirt driveway and even though I CRAWL up the driveway, it still kicks up dust. The past two days my dad has been in the barn and I roll down the window to talk to him before shutting my car off. Yesterday the window went halfway up and stopped. Try again and again no go. Pulled the fuse to check it and it is a solid metal block? with 35A on the end. Put it back in, window rolled right up. Did exact same thing today, went to roll window back up and no go. Shut the car off, removed keys, put them back in and window went up two inches. Remove keys, put back in, two inch rollup again. Wait 1 minute, try again and went up fine.

    WTF?

Nothing wierd at all, your motor is shot! Just replaced mine for the same reason.. Autozone has em for 57 bucks I think.. Here's the install guide: http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html

Nope, something heats up inside the motor causing it to stop, when it sits for a few the thermal resistor cools down and it will roll up a little then stop again, let it cool off, rolls up a little further, etc.. Trust me, just went through it..

No problem! I recommend riveting the motor back in place, don't use the screws that come with it..

Their all correct, this is a major problem with the f-body's. Odds are it will happen again even after replacing them....

Don't cheap out and buy used or "remanufactured," it will come back to haunt you. AutoZone sells them for $57, and they come with a lifetime warranty, so no more expensive replacements, just the hassle of doing it again in a few years/months/whatever.
