  • need help......

Hey, I'm looking to do a cam install withing the next few months, and was wondering what everyone suggests. I don't want to waste money on one that isn't going to put out much performance increase. With the cam swap, I'm also going to need to upgrade my torqe converter. ANY IDEAS???

Depends on what you want, something just to help with launch on the street or are you going racing?

If you are just going for a little extra launch on the street, I'd stay in the 3000-3400 RPM range.

Loose convertors create extra heat. Heat kills automatic transmissions. So a transmission cooler might be something to consider. It's fun to run a radical cam on the street, but not behind an automatic, for many reasons, IMHO.

yes stock heads with longtubes. 3" catted y-pipe into gmmg chambered exhaust. I'm looking for something that is going to be streetable, since that is where i do most of my driving. But, at the same time I want something that is going to take the car to the next level

get a good trans cooler and you will be set. unlike old convertors the lock up stuff that is used now does not create heat while cruising cause they are locked.
With a good tuner a 240+ cam will cruise just fine.
The 230/236 has a noticable lobe but drivablity is great
