V6 oil leak

Ever since I got my car it has had an oil leak, a very small one, maybe 1 drop every day or so on my garage floor. I did an oil change Wednesday before the M & G, cleaned up all the oil on the exhaust and bottom of the pan when I was done, it was pretty spotless. It did not leak at all Wednesday Thursday or Friday since it never left the garage ( detailing for M & G) I could see no spots on the floor. Went to M & G, came home, car sat the rest of Saturday, and all of Sunday until I left for work sundry at 4pm. I got 10 ft out of the garage and my dad waved me down, "Hey did you see the puddle of oil your car left on the floor?"

I have good oil pressure, more than normal actually, not by much though. Around the pan and plug is perfectly clean, seems to be coming from the back of the engine or something, im going over my grandmas tomorrow and ill get down in the pit and look at it some more, but what do I look for? It seems to leak oil where ever I let it sit, I added some today to bring it back to normal.

Mine blows it out of the back of the engine somewhere too. I had it all cleaned up and when I got a new Y pipe and cat it was pretty again. Then the oil leaked and burned onto the exhaust again. It might leave one or two drops ever from sitting. Only seems to get pushed out when driving. I think I had to add maybe a quarter of a quart once to bring it back up to full on the dipstick. I haven't bothered tracking down where it's coming from.

Same here, I haven't had the time to start tracking it down.

It sounds like it's leaking while the engine oil is hot and thin after driving your car around moreso than when it's just sitting. My car does the same exact thing. The oil pan is always covered in oil, we just leave a cardboard box under my car for the oil to drip onto now.

I don't think it's a viscosity issue, I think it's getting pumped up to an area with a leak when it's running. When it's sitting all the oil drains back down to the pan. I thought I read about issues with the rear main seal leaking. Not sure if I have that problem or not.

Yeah, that's true too -- if you've just driven somewhere then the oil was pumped to somewhere the leak is, when you park in the garage it then drips. If you clean it while parked and don't drive it, obviously no drip.

I would bet money that each of you has a rear main seal leak to some degree.

Not too tough to fix...the seal itself is like $10...just getting to it is a pain as the trans has to slide rearward or be removed.

That's why I haven't fixed it yet. Figure if I can just live with it until I get a v8 to swap in...
