  • head/cam kit

well, ive been digging through old threads and talking about it with a few peeps in the chatbox and found A LOT of helpful information. but, im still left with a lot of questions. looking around, i know that im gonna need to do some other things to support this swap. i have a decent understanding of what the numbers mean, but have no clue as to what will work best for what application or what will be the best combination. pace has recommended a 205 cc kit, but i am unsure of what would all be included in that. so, basically, i need some guidance. well, actually, i need a lot of guidance. i look forward to all your responses.

this is an open ended question. What are your goals? What will you tolerate for drivability(cam size) What are your current mods?

do a either texas speeds 228r cam with 5.3 heads and be totally streetable and good at the track without reving it to the moon or you can go with a torqure v2 n those heads

how much you looking to spend? I recommend TFS 215's with a low 230's cam. Pick the heads you want/can afford then pick the cam
Take a look at some of the combo's posted in the dyno section of Ls1tech

get the best heads you can afford then a very mild cam. Great heads/ small cam will be much more driveable than decent heads with a big cam and make the same power

Yep get ready to drop some dough but a good set of heads should be first and foremost in this case then have Patrick G custom spec out a cam for you would be my best suggestion.

dont forget to look at a new ported oil pump, timing chain, pushrods, valve springs. If your doing a head swap..dont forget new gaskets, and head bolts.

yeah, i have a little list going of what i pulled from other threads. along with all this stuff, im gonna do the ls6 intake along with the converter (havent decided which one yet), and i read in another thread that i should go with the ls2 timing chain and dual valve springs just to be on the safe side. thanks again guys!
