if the H.U is aftermarket and you have a faceplate that pops out you can order a faceplace from the manufacturer.. I lost my Alpine faceplate last year or 2 years ago and had 2 order another one..cost me about $85
If you were to get a different one ..then you would need a different kit.

IMO Pioneer and Alpine are right on par with each other, they are the only brands i will buy for head units. I put a pioneer premeire in my truck, alpine in my car and an alpine in my dads boat and i am happy with all of them. The sony i had in my old truck though was junk in comparison.
And mike as long as the new head unit is the same din (size of the faceplate) you should be able to re-use the mounting kit. The sony you have is a single din. for example a headunit that was 50% taller would be a din and a half, and twice as tall a double-din.... but most are single din anyway so dont worry about it.-Joel

previous owner did mine, however i have done my fair share of head unit installs. usually its a piece of cake, just matching wires and splicing.-Joel
