new brakes need hep

i just got new slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pads installed. there is a very loud noise coming from the back. kind of like a howling when i stop. its very embarrasing. i stopped at autozone to see if they had any thoughts . he said ceramic brakes dont go well with slotted rotors. seemed odd to me since the front arent making any noise.

any thoughts. if its nice tom i will drive the car to dog dawgs and if your there you will here me comin. it realy sucks. thanks.

Hmmm, interesting...I have ceramics with D+S rotors and don't make any noise, that's gotta be the stupidest thing I've ever heard, no I've heard worse but you get my point. As for a howling noise, I'd have to hear it make a suggestion. I don't think I've ever heard any kind of howl coming from brakes, weird. I'd just get in there take em back apart and redo it...see if you find something. Might not even be the brakes.

It's the rears right? Maybe check the parking brake

it is the rears. i had someone else do the brake work. im not very mechanicly inclined. the e brake line is broke in 2 places so i doubt thats it. ill have to take it in and have it checked out i guess

Every guy should at least know how to do his own brakes and change the oil. lol, just f'in with you. I bet if you did do them yourself they wouldn't be making a weird noise though.

if you still have the e brakes on the inside of the rotors, one may be hanging up and causing the noise. either go in and remove them or it may just wear itself out after a few miles. id definately take it back apart and see

i was afraid to do my own brakes too until i saw this, then i felt retarded for paying someone so much to do it when theres only a handful of bolts to be dealt with. read it and see if it gives you any ideas.

Maybe a rock is stuck in between... Just throwing out ideas, my dads buddies suburban had kinda like a howl and grinding noise and it was just a little rock jammed in between.

The back brakes I thought were a little harder on the LT1 model cars. You have to put the pad in the slot just right. What I would do is take the back wheels off and take a look at them yourself. You can turn the rotor and see if there is anything abnormal. They really aren't that hard to take apart, so if it comes down to it, just take one side apart at a time. My brakes were loud for about 1,000 miles but thats because I had the stock rotors turned. The pads had to bed in and it took a week or two to do that.

I'd put my money on this too. It happened on a truck I was working on once.
