  • Security?

I've been having problems with the factory security features not letting my car start. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it makes me late. Anyone ever have any similar troubles or know how to fix it?

are you talking about problems with the VATS system? thats really the only thing that can prevent your car from starting.

Is your key bad? does the chip / resistor look like its kinda chewed down or iffy?

Do you mean it just cranks and cranks and cranks but never fires?

No cranking. The fuel system gets shut off. I bypassed the key for ignition when I started having this problem. Now I have a button. There's a little light just to the right of the tach that says "security" if that light is on when I want to start the car, it won't even turn over. The switch I installed turns the starter directly, but whatever security feature turns off the starter also turns off the fuel system.

but the problem is my key

Try to start it and from what I know it wouldnt read the resistance...wouldnt crank over untill about 3min had passed

if you do get a new key..use a multimeter to match the resistance..15 different pellets used...you dont want to be stuck with one that wont work

they make sure it is the right resistance when they make the key.

I had the key checked at the dealer. They said there was nothing wrong with it. I'm thinking it might be the connections inside the ignition?
