I never had to drop my motor for a cam/head install. I guess if you really want to you can.1999 Turbo Trans Am WS6**Under Construction** Rear Mount Retired

I'd first recommend saving up and buying that converter to match the heads and cam.. it would be silly not to put in the converter while its out. Other than that.. its fairly simple, make sure to unplug everything! Take pictures just in case you'll have it out for awhile. That way you'll know where everything goes when its time to put it all back together.-08 G8 GT DD: Rotofab CAI, HID's, Breyton Race GTS'

like cory, i like just doing head/cam swaps with the motor in the car, i've done 3 or 4 of them like that now. go to http://www.ls1howto.com/ and check under the "f body how to's" there is a whole step by step pics and everything you will need to know and tips/tricks there. i used these instructions the first time i did my head swap on my car in my garage and they helped a TON. now i can do them without even thinking really.1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo

ive been told droppin the motor and trans out of the car is much easier.reason why ive chosen to do so.i will be gettin the converter when i do this as well.i am well aware of ls1howtoo.ive printed the instructions on the head and cam swap from there.but i figured i can get some work done to the engine compartment while the engine is out of the way.you all know, some wiring work and touch up on the paint that i messed up installing my headers.lol.
