ya a 1000 dollar nitrous setup isnt going to do alot on a stock exhaust setup except burn the hell outta your stock manifolds... but a full exhuast kit and cam will still be about the same price and give you probably close if not more than what a stock motor could do with a safe shot of no2.. and then your ready to add the no2 after that bigger and better... why upgrade the no2 twice... do it once right..

yea full exhaust is a must on these cars IMO. Cam's can make some HUGE power in LS1's as well!

06camarodudeI know that you all like the pacesetters, but are there any other brands that offer more HP and Torque gains?
There are a ton of different brands that make "better" power but we all like the pacesetters because of how easy they are to install....i believe Kooks makes some headers with 1 7/8's primarys as opposed to most other's 1 3/4 primarys, and they are known to be "one of the best" as well as the SLP LT's they are also claimed to be one of the best, however fitment and clearance are two very big complaints i've heard about other brands...my Hookers are a pain in the ass to get out aswell!

Ok couple things here if your looking at making more power with one set of headers over another listen up, you won't. There have been many polls over on LS1tech that prove the only reason to buy more expensive headers is that they are either better fitment, coated, or stainless steel. Thats it, all headers will gain relativly the same amount of power. You can search on that site and find a couple of sets for sale right now so check it out. Oh and another thing DON'T GET SLP HEADERS!!! my friend had them and they suck ass, they hang unbearably low and scrape constantly on stock ride height, they also have many unecessary bends that the pacesetters don't have. Go with full exhaust then get an LS6 intake and ported TB, if you still want more then choose which route to go. Sorry for the rant, any questions just ask.

The only SLP thing worth getting IMO is their airbox lid. I wouldn't buy anything else from them. Definetely not any exhaust stuff, their systems sound like expensive glasspacks.

I wouldn't buy anything from them either and I own one of their catbacks and airlid, CAI, ect. I actually loved the sound of my SLP LM with the stock manifolds, its very agressive and loud but I'm sure I'll be switching it out once I get a major headache from it with the LTs.

Yep, before I bought my cat-back I heard an SS with a loudmouth, just was obnoxious and annoying.

Do the headers!! if you dont have a cam.....I would wait on removing the cats as stock cams.....ehhh dont sound as good coming thru. (117 lsa, bla)
But pacesetters are a good "budget" header. I have them and they went right in!

Ooooops I mean when I get then I'm sure they'll go right in as I'm stock!

If I get a race style header with no AIR or EGR settings that would have to be tuned out right. what does AIR exactly stand for. Also what misc items would I need. O2 extensions right and gaskets anything else

Mine are the "race headers" with out any of that emissions bullshit..... but my car came with them already. and the LS6 intake and ported TB..... I'm sure you would need some kind of tuning to the computer so it knows none of that stuff is there anymore? not my area of expertiese (sp?) lol......but i'd say do the full exhaust and intake...then decide what route you wanna take...either head cam and spray....or Forced Induction....sorry that's just my 2 pennies!

AIR is what it is, its an air pump the pumps hot air from the manifolds back to the cats so that they work on startup. If you were to remove the emissions you'd need EGR block off plates, and O2 simulators or just tune out your O2s like I am doing.

AIR - Air Injection Recirculation (part of emissions system)

Yes if you remove EGR/AIR you must delete them from the PCM or SES will appear. Not necessarily a full custom tune. I would wait for a cam as well as you will deffinately need a tune after that is installed. Also for the rear O2's you can just delete those as well or go with O2 sims.....

i didnt read through this whole thing but, spray it, you can piece togeather a nitrous kit for under 600 with a bottle heater and everything. you realy dont need a purge kit. I would however keep your spray under 150, probably a 100 shot, and youll have no worries, just run a fuel pressure safety switch, cost for 1 is about 30 bucks tops. any nitrous kit comes with a WOT switch, if your an auto run a window switch, if your a 6 speed you dont need one right now. i have spray on both my camaros, my Z has a 2 stage, SS has a single stage. headers are nice, but of the things listed, nitrous is the biggest bang for the buck.
