  • headers or nitrous

Hey im thinking about doin something to the maro this summer. I think i want to to headers maybe qtp with a y pipe and a exhaust cutout, or nitrous with a window switch wot switch and purge kit. The headers and electric cutout will sound sweet and the purge will look sweet. I am kind of afraid to do nitrous cus of engine damage so i would do a mild shot. The power from the headers would also always be there anytime. anyway both will prolly be a little over 1000 bucks what would u guys suggest. Oh yea any other suggestions on how to make my car faster for that money can be suggested also.

well it involves some major work, but i would say get a cam...cams are all about the same price no matter what the grind...so get a good sized one! and then all you really gotta do after a cam is upgrade valve springs to accomodate the larger lift. and then a good tune will make some good power with just a cam swap!.....but....

i would say get some headers for your car....full exhaust and upgraded intake are like "the basis" for modding!

ya i don't think a cam would be worth it if your still running exhaust manifolds. The best thing to do is always upgrade the intake and exhaust first so that when you get the good stuff it will be worth a damn. My 2 cents

Well the intake is upgraded. I put an airbox lid and a k&n airfilter in while she is in storage. Maybe when i take it out those things are gonna make so much more power I won't have to do anything else lol jk. I just want to do something that will make a good power increase instead of using money gaining a little bit at a time. Besides thats all I can do to the intake accept 4 manifold and some heads and heads are too much $ and the manifold is not a great starting mod to do. I really just want to drop in a turbo or sc "how about that for an intake upgrade" but they are expensive as well.

Well, headers are worth what, 25-30 hp? if you got an intake, maybe another what 15? IDK, if you gotta have the power now, I'd go nitrous. but, if you have the money and patience, get hearders, intake, cam and so on first.

well if he has exhaust manifolds I would def. get headers. It will help your motor.

Before you go blowing nitrious thru your engine get teh basic mods that make the nitrious work even better. I would suggest Pacesetter long tube headers or something that will loosin up the flow, then after that i would go cam. After that then i would go nitrious.

I would never use nitrious tho....to scared of blowing up somethin....(like what happened in my fav. movie the fast n furious!)

For now i would stick with basic bolt ons, the full exhaust will give you some more kick like orange said since you already have teh K&N....thats my 3 cents

Go with full bolt-ons before you really do anything else, its the best place to start and will really wake up your car while keeping future options open. Oh and as a suggestion go with a nice set of coated Pacesetters with ory, I just installed mine and it was a piece of cake the fit is amazing just ask Matt and there cheap too.

yeah the pacesetter went right in! i've never had a set of LT's just literally go in....we started the drivers side on jeffs cause i said "that's the hard side" it freakin went right in....then the passanger side went in literally with out any effort...just a matter of putting the bolts in! i suggest pacesetters !!!!! very good price and easy as hell to install!

hmmm i seem to have that same problem jeff? my EGR is all gone? my exhaust had a little rattle...fixed that by losing the cats....then somewhere along the way 02 sensors were acting up so some 02 simulators got plugged in...and now my computer thinks everything is A-OK!!! hahaha my car seems to run better with new air going into the intake...instead of half new air..half exhaust!!!!!!
