      LT1s dont have the same RPM range as LS1s though. We limit at 6200 and run out of steam (stop pulling) well before that.

            Personally, I'm putting 4.10's and a locker in my car after the 6 speed swap. I've heard it really wakes up the car as far as acceleration goes, and with 5th and 6th gear, you can still maintain some decent mileage on the highway. Anything more than a 4.10, you're going to start slaughtering those Highway MPG's. . . If it's mostly a street car with some track use, I'd go 4.10's, if it's a track car strictly, I'd go with something even bigger. Keep in mind, the more acceleration you gain through rear end gears, you lose a little off the top end.

              A 4.10 gear with a m6 is very streetable, and really gives the car an extra kick. I only noticed a drop of 2mpg going from my 3.42 gears, and i check it all the time. At 70mph i will be approximately 2150 rpms on 16 inch wheels and 245/50 tires i believe. With 17 wheels and tire combo i think you'd be around 2050 rpms. You'll notice a big difference, but don't go with anything steeper than a 4.10 if your driving the streets all the time.

                never get 4.10s when you can get 4.11s.

                and the people who tell you 4.10s will make you spin only half know what they are talking about. Yes, you WILL break the tires loose easier, but with a shorter gear range you will also be regaining traction that much faster. The right driver can make a geared car scoot.

                        4.11 = 37 ring gear teeth / 9 pinion gear teeth
                        4.10 = 41 ring gear teeth / 10 pinion gear teeth

                        less teeth = thicker teeth = stronger gearset

                              ok then with a 3200 stall with an a4 for daily driving an occassional track days, 4.11s or 3.73s. does my car take 4.10s or 4.11s. i actually like the idea of the 3.90s

                                I'd go with 3.73s in an Auto car and thats tops if you street drive it regularly. As far as a locker goes... don't do it. They're noisy and clunky. Sure they work.. but its overkill.
