Header Install question

trying to install my headers for the 94 LT1 TA

Removed the manifolds fine, spark plugs are out and I had to remove the oil fill cap and extension.

I have AZ speed mids and they dont want to go up or down to the correct location.

I've tried going up from underneath and down from top and neither even seem to come close to fitting.

I removed the oil filter, what else do I need to remove to get these to fit?

if its anything like my starter... i had to like wiggle and push and scream and swear and it finnaly fell out and hit me in the forehead... putting it back in was the same process.... so maybe get a helmet and start wiggling it.

Are you having problems with both sides or just one side? and are doing this on the floor or are you using a lift... you have a lift don't you?... i thought you did... although that was a long while ago that i was there.

From what I have seen, you have to do it from underneath. Contact Joelius about it, I think he did it. But I know many others have too. Maybe they can enlighten us.

yep we have the full size lift in there, which is great but i'm still frusterated w/ these damn things

Lol don't beat your self up... Thats how we do... wiggle, push, pry, cuss..... read the directions get it in... sleep well at night. I hope working with the motor mount helps out.

never worked on a motor mount before so i have to go read my haynes...

motor mounts are a piece of cake man. Everyone is afraid of them for no good reason. Theyre one bolt per side. All you have to do is take the nut off, and jack the motor to the point that there is neither weight nor lift on the mount (tricky but easy), and the bolt will slide right out. Then jack up the motor to tip it on the other mount. It should take you 10 minutes per side tops unless you have heavily rusted mounts.

Ugh, that sounds like it sucks - I'm glad my car came with headers...and more space to work on the motor (which still is hardly any)...

100% sure I will have to mess w/ the mounts

just removed the alt and starter, pass side still hits the heater box when going from the top and I cannot wiggle it to go in from the bottom at any angle

drivers side is the same way

I'm having a friend come help me out tomorrow

you should be able to do this yourself. put the car on jackstands, and jack the motor by the oilpan carefully with a 2x4 to distribute the weight. youre only doing one at a time.

Seriously, disconnecting an engine mount is a piece of cake. the passenger side bolt is a tight fit to remove (AC lines) but nothing you cant handle. put it back in the other way when youre done.

i already removed all the AC/EGR/AIR crap off


I'm going to head out again and try and do one side...
