knock sensor

the wire is ripped out of my knock sensor, so its gonna retard the timing pretty bad right? i already got a new one on the way, im just curious what kind of effect it will have.

that might depend on what wire is ripped out. If the sensor is rendered useless (im pretty sure it is), i would assume youre going to get a knock reading of zero - which is what the sensor should be reading most of the time anyway. i wouldnt be too worried about it.

Should only be one wire and if it's the same as the older GM ECM's your EST is rendered usless with the wire ripped out. You will also get a SES light when the knock sensor fails it's test on start-up.
