well as long as you didnt have the battery unplugged for too long it should hold the idel settings... i think it has to be out atleast 24-48 hours before it will reset back to factory and depending on what programmer you used sometimes they never go back to factory settings depending on what computer is in it... i had the same thing on my grand prix i did very little mods to it but enough to mess the stock program up... turn it on it would idel at like 2,500 rpm for a good 45 seconds before dropping down... then when it did come down to like 1,000 it would jump up and down for another 5 miutes atleast before it smoothed out... i couldnt figure it out... then just tossed the programmer on it and changed my idel setting back to where it was supose to be no problems after that... but if i pull my battery for too long i have to do it again

My moms car did that after having a dead battery for about a day and a half, but after I cleared the trouble code it worked fine.

Adrian... I have the Thunder Racing 224/224 112 lsa cam 563/563 lift...it's a very nice streetable cam. my car came with it already in...and it makes a good chunk of power around 2500 rpm all the way to the top!.... but yeah your symptoms sound identical to mine...just worse?

Matt, thanks for the link! Very nice...I need all suspension mods myself...haha. Spent all my money on making it go "faster". As far as the problem, I agree. I think we have the same problem, mine is just worse. I think I've narrowed it down to the throttleplate closing when coming off of the gas, and it choking down the engine. It also has to do with it not being completely warmed up. The worst of my problems is now the fact that I have to open up my throttleplate more which is causing a higher and higher idle rpm. I have it to the point now where it idles at 1K even. While driving now, it'll bog just a little for a few mins, then it will start the high idle cruising bit. I probably need to open up my throttleplate just a bit more to help eleviate anymore boggin issues, and then i'll have to get my IAC valve tuned to act properly and not cause the crusing idle bit.
I honestly don't see any reason for the "cruising" idle. It never did it before I installed anything, so I'm assuming that its not at its stock parameter. But I don't really know, I really wish I new someone with HPTuners or EFILive. That way we can really get in there and clean up this mess!

            06camarodude, you have a PM!

            Thanks!

Yeah... everynow and then my car will act up worse. but for the most part it just idles weird from the cam. as cams do that....But i've noticed in extreme temp changes (like if i pull my car into the shop at work to wash it on a 30 degree day. when i pull it into the warm shop. it idles like hell...and usually dies unless i keep revving it some)....or if my car is not warmed up it will act up. however my symptoms are not a cause for concern like yours...by the way...what size cam did you put in? and who dyno'd/tuned your car?

on a side note...yeah i just did all my suspension in the fall...i blew the stock 3.42's to hell lol...so when i ripped out my rear end, i decided to replace everything else while i was at it (part of my OCD lol) i also had my trans re-built by D&D out in wixom. and had a host of problems with SPEC and my clutch/flywheel. but now all is good...and my car runs like a raped date!!!!

Hope some of this might help you? i believe that your cam is bigger than mine (which it must because of your #'s you're putting down. im sure my car would be in the same boat as yours if i had a bigger cam)

My cam is pretty big, but I think i've started to narrow down the issue. First I believe that my throttleplate wasn't open enough, so when coming off of the gas, it would choke down my engine. Now I opened up the throttleplate some more, and eleviated my bogging issue...for the most part. It'll still do it sometimes, but I think I just need to open it up some more, or drill a hole based on the voltage that the TPS is putting out because if its above .62V it'll go into a different timing table and will give me automatic cruise control. Anyways, I need to get my RAF tables remapped, and play around with my idle spark tables and my cruising idle speeds ect... There is just a whole lot more to this then I understand at the moment and hope I can gain a better understanding of the situation! I also had my tuning done at Livernois. Too bad I just didn't buy the software myself...costs just as much...
