i like the assurance of having my multi-layer steel head gaskets.....
since you are doing all that stuff at once...you will shit your pants the first time you womp on it with everything done and tuned..... is that HP tuners..can u use it on more than one car???? curiouse cause i just put my 3.73's in and my speedo is off...and so im actually putting more miles on the odometer then im really driving!... just wonderin if that is a possibility to fix with out me having to call the guy that tuned my car the first two times?

As a matter of fact I do have HPT for 98s and 02s so you would be more than welcome to use it for your gear swap but its at my other buddies house as of now. Maybe one of these weekends we can all get together because I wanna delete all my emissions and rear O2s before the install. Damnit I didn't even think about the head bolt pattern! I'm sure I'll have to convert everything as well since these heads were originally intended for a 02, son of a *****. Well Matt you can use my HPT and then let me know what else I need to do all of that shit so I can get everything installed.

before I attack my install i need plugs, wires, gaskets, minicats, [money for] a custom Y-pipe, a pcm tune, replacement O2 sensors, breslin header bolts and im sure there are about 5 other things im forgetting. Not exactly cheap.

yea, in my case i wont be surprised if i spend more on all the little shit than the headers themselves.

well i got all my parts...including heads from the guy that prepares all the race cars for my friend and his dad/ team. the guy's name is danny. and he used to be a GM engineer...retired now and has a house with 3 pole barns out in ortonville area. so i got all my stuff at dealer cost from him...here's my "extras" i had to pick up...
                (2) valve covers (center bolt).... $54 each ...$108
                (1) Oil filler cap and new spout (vette cap )....$6
                (2) Water Pump Gaskets (98 ones had paper...99+ had a steel/rubber reusable one!)......$4 each....$8
                (2) coil Brackets.......$9 each.....$18
                this bill came to $172

then my GM multi-layer steel head gaskets where $56

i just was lookin through all my reciepts and i realized he never charged me for the new PCV hose he gave me....he hooked it up really good for me!....so if you want...i can ask my friend if he can get ahold of him for any of these parts if you can't find 'em... i can't gaurentee you those prices...as he gave me everything at cost...and some shit even less..cause he was like this is...umm ahh well just gimme $5 lol....

Sounds pretty good, I'll let you know what parts I need once I get some more cash saved up since I'm going to by a heads/cam install kit from Texas Speed which has some of that stuff already.

I'll take one as payment for helping build the other two lol. Matt did you install your heads all yourself or did this guy help you because since I've only installed a catback and lid lol I might have some questions or need help during the install.

i did it all myself... i found a site www.LS1howtoo.com and it had like complete EVERYTHING step by step with all the pictures and stuff. it was a piece of cake... like even little stupid crap that wouldn't be hard to figure out.... it says and it made my life SO easy when i did it lol....so check 'em out!...but yeah any questions i can answer i will...it was actually an easy install.... you'll also need a little fuel hose disconnect tool...you can get it at like auto zone or anything..like $5... i got one too if you wanna use it when you get to that point...also did you or are you gonna get new head bolts or ARP studs?... i've heard it's a good idea to replace 'em cause they are a grade 8 and only take the proper torquing once.... my replacement ones from the guy where $34 for plain old new stock ones. but yeah i did all the work myself everyday after work a little at a time!

Yeah I might borrow that tool from ya if I meet up with you before then. As for the header bolts those come with the kit as well. Thats the site I've been reading up on a lot latly and its seems very straightforward so I should be capable of doing it all a little at a time possibly during or after work when were slow.
