  • Car is sitting on the side of the road...need help NOW!!!

My 1994 LT1 A4 pontiac trans am ran out of gas today on my way home. No big deal right? After putting ~8 gallons of gas into the tank it still will not run on it's own.

It will run on starting fluid/gas when I put it directly into the TB but will never start running on it's own...

    what can i do?

The car is on a slight angle on the shoulder of the road, leaning to the pass. side, however 8 gallons is half a tank and i dont see how that is an issue.

Anyone know what else to do?

fuel pump probably fried up on ya and is shot, that would be my first guess. Do you hear the pump turning on when you turn the key? Does it fire up and then die or what?

I've ran out of gas before (way to many times back in high school lol) and have never blown a fuel pump. It only sputtered for 15 secs before i killed it. Hopefully I didnt blow the new fuel pump (they replaced in may, recipt proven)

I didn't see if the pump is turning on, i will check that out tomorrow asap. This was all my fault, not the cars...but damn...i hope i didn't blow the pump...

It just turns over, nothing more. It will fire up when gas is put in the TB but only runs on whatever i put in, nothing more...

see if your fuel pump is running underneath the rear of the car when you turn on the key or just take the cap off and see if you can hear it,, check your fuses and relays.. if nothing its your fuel pump.....

Now that you guys say that, you can normally hear the pump turn on when you turn the key and I dont remember hearing anything...

I guess I'll have to tow it home tomorrow...and order a fuel pump...

I was looking, a stock OEM style one from autozone was 170...however this 255lph one was only 125....will this one work?

Your fuel pump is toast! It's very common in F-bodys to have a fuel pump failure when you run the tank out of gas. The pump actuality uses fuel in the tank to cool its self, when the tank has NO gas in it it tends to over heat.

will the 255lph work just fine without a tune, stock injectors, and an almost stock engine? I've never messed with fuel before so this is all new...
