Find out how much an LT1 or LS1 motor sells for and then add on a lot as well. You will also need, all wiring and harnesses, new rear to hold that power, probably new trans and those are just basics. I'd say take the easy way out and sell it for a Z28.

It would be a hell of a lot cheaper and less stressful to just buy a Z28. maybe you can have the best of both worlds and save up for a Z28 so you don't have to sell your car?... i'd say get a Z28....I wouldn't say sell your V6 though. if that's an option? for most of us it's not though

well a gtp motor will not work in your car if you plan on using the supercharger that comes with the gtp engine. You could use the shortblock but that is it. Clearance problems with the firewall and hood don't allow us to use the gtp blower on our cars.

Just go with a v8 swap

Do you have a payment currently? Personally, if you don't I'd keep the v-6 and drive it daily, less abuse on the newer car and better mileage. Then go buy an LS1 Z28 if you can find and afford one and drive that on the weekends. Don't do like me though and be stuck with 2 car payments because you don't wanna drive your Z in the winter, not to mention I can't keep it straight on dry pavement sometimes anyway.

I wouldn't mess with or hassle with swapping a v8 in your current car. If it was 20-30 years old, and they were scarce, maybe then I would. But there should be plenty of 4th gen Z28's around in good shape with low mileage yet.

I agree, keep the v6 for your DD. Save up and get a z28. If you're looking for a house and you can't afford both, then don't worry about the z28 yet. You can always buy a z28, you don't HAVE to have it right away, y'kno?

sounds like you have the perfect car for a swap, but i dont know if i would do it. IMO if i were you id keep driving it until you have an "excess of money" then just completely bypass the stock LT1/LS1 phase, have a forged stroker, tranny, and rear end built (youd need all that on a Z practically anyway) and then buy a saturn for a DD.

well meissen, i gess your write, i dont NEED it right away but i sure do WANT it right away tho. lol but when i do get a z im not gona keep the 6. even the 6 isnt a good dd. this is why if your wondering. to hard to get into driveways, it feels like the car is gona explode when you hit a bump, dont even think about speed bumps, no way in hell its going thru more than a inch of snow and ricers allways wanna race ya. that gets really enoying after a wyle it seems like every time i look over i got a freakin little neon or geo reving its fart can at me, i used to race them but it seems that for every one i beat there are 2 more that wanna race.

                  so....yah.....im geting a truck lol

you always do 728 when you mean z28 lol.

I don't know man, if you're that much against the 6 then sell yours and get a z28. Must be a problem with Bay City, or maybe it's caues mine has the hood and spoiler that people just think it's fast, I never have problems with ricers trying to race me. Driving in more than an inch of snow? You crazy? That's nothing. I used to work a good 10 miles away from work and I drove my car year round for two years in a row and I never once got it stuck. Our cars handle pretty dang good in the snow, it's just a matter of having the tires in good shape, the tires inflated correctly, and knowing how to feather the gas. And, worst case scenario, knowing how to rock out of the snow. Shit I've driven through snow thicker than what we got now and I didn't have any problems with it.

you must have a couple dead bodys or sompthing in your trunk! my car has practicly brand new tires and there inflated correctly so i dont know ? all i know is if thers a layer of snow on the ground the tires wont stick, but then again my tires have a hard time sticking to raw pavement in the summer, oh wait thats my fault, hehehe other than the ricers and the winters i love my car.... them dang driveways tho....ouch.

werd i used to just throw a bag of salt or sand in the trunk and away I went. Maybe your tires just suck.
