I had a customer call today to get a motor and trans to do a swap, he was over $3000 for jsut them, then you need a computer about $150, harness (fun to get used) motor mounts, and a few other misc parts so figure about $6000 to do the swap. Now the real question is do you want to do the swap to do the swap, or do you want to do the swap for a faster car? if just for a faster car buy a v8 (it will also be more reliable more than likely)

since its is a 3.4, if he goes lt1 his wireing harness will work, almost everything is plug and play, i looked into converting my old 94 firechicken to a LT1 because of the insurance rates!! v6 rates with v8 performance. beside the harness your tranny will bolt up, but i would advise against it, but alot of times when you buy a motor you can get the tranny with it.

insurance rates are teh same on both for me. The computer is different. The trans may bolt up, but it will scatter

yeah they're the same for you cause you're an old geezer. Us guys under the 24 (?) age bracket are burdened with the inflated insurance due to other shitty drivers lol.

the trans would hold through everyday driving, but as soon as he starts rapping on it, itll become a thing of the past. and the insurance rate between the 2 is significantly differant.

the v6 trans has trouble with a modded 6. I got quotes on both this year (I almost bought a 4th gen, but couldn't get past the weight, and ugly) on most cars they don't look at the engine size anymore (unless it's under I think 5 years old) also if you don't have to have full coverage, it doesn't matter what engine you have

Those of us with loans have to have full coverage, if it wasn't for my cavalier or my truck before it giving me a multi car discount and letting me insure it as a pleasure vehicle, I'd be paying $175/mo. for full coverage with no points and I'm over 25! I was fine till they asked if it was a z28 or ss. My agent smiled and said "ouch, that'll get ya". Thank god storage is only $30/mo in the winter, wish the payment went down too. Bastards, we have speed limits, all insurance should be the same, lol yeah right, they want our money to much, just like tags being priced based on the original msrp of the vehicle. what a crock of shit. Anyway, back on topic, sounds like your car will need some work so it doesn't fall apart when you hit a bump. Go for a Z. that's my vote. Wait till spring though unless you find a steal. then get a beater or a cheap car.

                        so....yah.....im geting a truck lol
I 6 don't drive for sh*t in the snow I tried to drive it a couple of times last winter and I get stuck on flat surfaces, so thats way I don't drive it in the winter no more.
