Ive always heard that the fast 396 cars of yesteryear were usually running 427 heads.

Interesting I didn't now that about using 427 heads I plan on using sum aftermarket head if my buget will let me or I will just port the stockers till I can they flow plenty good there 69 heads so there open chamber should be fine or I could run sum rectangle ports but I've heard they arnt that great for a 396 my machinest will probly give me shit cus of this motor he is old school should have seen him when I told him how I wanted him to do my LT1 it was pretty funny he is the best tho he built a small block that spins 10 thousand RPM all day the guy is awsome my lt1 is good for 8000. Trust me you get plenty of heat for the turbo and just for the people that think you get lag from rear mount he has none I hear that so much its crazy talk he should be in the tens this year .

You can run any big block head on the 396 I believe.

Twin turbos under the hood is always sexier than a rear mount. Why hide, show pride.

Yes you can run any head they will work but becouse the 396 has such a small bore you don't want to big of a valve and chamber becouse of terbulence and shrouding. You loose power they don't need more head flow to make power they really have enuff but ther is ways to run thos heads and make gains . Very true twin turbos are sexy. Under. The hood. But to much head for a street car I think. The rear mount stay pretty cool and sound awsome people most of the time don't no what to think he pops the hood and it just a shinny LT1 its pretty funny they have to ask or they stat looking around to find the turbo hell there's a inner cooler out front just fallow the plumming . There was a guy that was a guy that did a twin rear mount turbo 454 feul injected he used desel truck turbos on it it made 1500 rwhp the thing ran nines .

My pops has some L88 (I believe) aluminum heads he'd probably part with if you were interested. Fully ported and set up for a solid roller. Dunno if they're oval or rectangulars.
