  • sway bar & sub frame (which brand)

No rear sway bar on my 68 and stock up front which I will leave.
How are the Summit brand sway bars vs. Global West or Hotckis . ? 3/4 0r 7/8 for rear.

Also I would like to install sub frame connectors. Do I want bolt in or weld . (I do not race the car)
And how are the summit vs. Global West or Hotchkis on these. they are 2 to 3 times the price of Summit

i've had really good success with every Summit brand part ive purchased - just a suggestion you may want to pm CS3 Creight as i know he's been very competitive with Summit

as for sfc's i would recommend welding regardess of intended use

what leaf springs do you have mono or multi?

Hotchkis has better ground clearence then Global west. Global West kinda looks like a exhaut tube hanging down from your car. Dont know about the "store brand".
The last time I checked, I was cheaper then Summit and jegs on most Hotchkis parts. I currently dont have a Hotchkis 4007 connector in stock, but could let you know when some come in

The Hotchkis rear is a 7/8th hollow bar. Some folks with 1st gen like rear bars, some dont.

that was part of the reason i was asking about your spring set-up

ive read that most people with multi-leaf setups find little to no difference when adding a rear bar

My 69 has multi-leaf springs and no bars, front or rear. It handles like garbage. But it sure does smoke the tires off

most people ive talked to like a modern bar up front and i do recommend one, as do i believe SFC's are essential on any 1st gen, but when is comes to the rear if you have multi leafs it doesn't seem to enhance or detract (essentiall it doesn't do anything for the $), the only time ive heard of people liking them is if they are redoing the entire suspension for track use

the mono leaf setups were pretty mushy to begin with and can allow for alot more body roll

I think you might see a little better handling by going w/ a replacement bar up front.

SFC's again are something i recommend on all 1st gens.

The rear is up to you for the reasons i stated above.

Are you chasing something or is this general upgrading?

                  Up grades.
I think I will go with hotchkis and hold of on the sways for now.
Team camaro forum had the same response as you guys.

                  QUOTE below
A rear sway bar on a 1st gen will over power the front end and mess up cornering unless you have a very large front sway bar and real wide tires all the way around.

I only have experience with the Hotchkis subframe connectors for a convertible. They are bolted on one end and welded on the other so you can remove the subframe from the car if needed after they are installed. If you look at the less expensive connectors they are straight and don't follow the contour of the cars floor and most don't fit up tight to the floor and hang down rather low when mounted. If your car is lowered at all this really becomes a deciding factor... Hotchkis also provides bushings to help insure the connectors fit properly.

If you don't spend money on a rear sway bar then you can put more toward the Hotchkis connectors and I think you will be happier in the long run.

I was looking at my car a few weeks ago and I am pretty sure I have an 1 1/8" front sway bar, no rear sway bar but multi leafs. I remember thinking that I would get a bigger sway bar but found out the car already had a large one. Sub connectors would be nice though. I probably also need to replace all of the cracked body mounts. The car was pretty mushy when I drove it last.

I think the one on my car is only 3/4 or 1 inch. Stock anyhow so you do have the large one.

Checked again last night and it is 1 1/4" in the front, no sway in the rear, but multi-leafs. Not sure if the SS came that way or it was installed by someone.
