  • Fuel Lines / Header Gaskets

Alright, I finally got my car back home with the motor in it and I am now reassembling everything. I have a few questions for the group.

    Fuel Line
What do you guys use for a fuel line?? My fuel line comes up the passenger side inside the frame and into the engine bay. I have a small fuel filter attached near the front pass suspension. I then use a flexible steel mesh fuel line, loop it into a 180 and back into the mechanical fuel pump. From there, I have it set up good, going to a fuel rail and into my Demon carb. I just need to replace the fuel line from the filter to the pump. I hate working with these mesh lines, but they are simple. anyone use anything else, other than these mesh lines, black tape and hose clamps??

    Header Gaskets
What do you guys use for gaskets at the cylinder head and going to the muffler side. I've got Hooker headers and Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads. the headers came with gaskets, but don't like them. I have used the brass (soft steel - triangular with 3 hole) ones on the muffler side that seem to work good. On the header side, I have used from 2-piece metal to cheaper kinds. I haven't found the one I like yet. Any recommendations??

Sure is sweet seeing the old car in my new MAN garage at the new house.

I would stick with the braided fuel lines, added protection against rocks, heat etc.. As far as gaskets go.. the paper ones work fine for me.. Ive tried the copper ones.. those leaked...

Put Copper/Brass gaskets on the '85. Wanted to say they were Hooker Gaskets? No problems with sealing so far.
