The "alledged" motors for the Camaro are as follows (all rumors at this point):

      1. A base V6 making 240-260 hp.

      2. A fuel mileage based (flexfuel) V6 making 220-250 hp.

      3. A base V8 (alledgedly the LS3) making 400-420 hp.

      4. The big dog, a LS7 or LS9 derivitive (depending on who you believe) making 500 hp.

There will be a 6-speed manual, but I think they're sticking with a 4 speed auto...that 6 speed auto is really expensive.

          We have plenty of time.

And we haven't even started breaking rules yet.

          Validation testing not complete...it'll launch.

          Not PPAP'd...it'll launch.

          Validation testing not STARTED...it'll launch.

x100!! Boy does that describe my work week, in and out. Like most of the other parts on the LC, mine will not be PPAPed on time . . . however, in their defense, this is an 18-month program instead of the standard 30 months. They are carrying over quite a bit of the good stuff from the LX, and that should help with the launch bugs. Plus they are building it at our A-#1 assembly plant (Brampton) IMHO.

Right now, we'll squeeze PPAP in before V1...won't make S2...no way in hell.

I'm curious about the suspension...that is ALL new for this car. How are they gonna validate THAT?

And Brampton will definately help, especially if they start the builds during shutdown, which I heard the other day as a possibility.

They may...but they'll likely sting ya for $2000 for the option...or just raise the MSRP $2000 and let you pick your trans...it ain't cheap...

And I've not heard any rumblings on a performance V6.

                Would you want one anyway?

Old, antiquated, small block OHV technology is the best bang for the buck there is...

                  I heard camaro job 1 is january 10, 2010

you guys are lucky with all of your changes. I work in ford powertrain and if i wanna make a design change, it goes through 53 hours of wot redline to see if it passes, 53 hours isnt much, but then you gotta remember i gotta have a motor built and dissasembled and inspected for each change. and then again, i usualy have to build 10 to run at the same time and wait for open dyno's

Boy oh boy, I pity you guys that work for Ford.

                    Seriously. They kill their people.

My last Ford program, I saw this statement posted in ALL of the conference rooms in Dearborn that I frequented...

THE AVERAGE FORD ENGINEER SPENDS 200 HOURS A MONTH IN FORD CONFERENCE ROOMS. PLEASE KEEP THEM CLEAN. THANK YOU.

                    You do the math.

I've turned down jobs because they were associated with Ford.

Unless I'm starving, I will never work with Ford again.

                    Effin' period.

Well, all the SRTs they just built went straight to Chelsea for the durability runs . . . I know because I can't get one to do my validation work. The PG is beating the heck out of 'em.

Don't actually work for GM...I now work for a tier 1 and work on Chrysler programs...but even with Chrysler being sold, Ford still sucks the worst...

Chelsea MI is where Chrysler's proving grounds are. Among many things, there is a high speed oval track there, but of course not open to the public

And yes, there are a number of pilot Challengers there, running durability testing, right now
