Sorry to get everyone here worked up and upset.......although i have talked several times with an EXTREMELY reputable GM R&D guy, and he said that a camaro was just not a practical idea at this point in time. What makes me upset about this is he is telling the truth . Everything that GM does MUST go past him., As of the woodward dream cruise, he told me that he still hast seen anything .

pes up all we can do is keep our hopes up!!

Eh, Mark, I'm really sorry but your guy must have missed the memo. Haven't you seen the articles about the concept being at the NAIAS 2006 in January? He's either not telling you the truth, or he just isn't on the same track as the Camaro is. I know a few people in GM on the Chevy performance side, one of them being the head designer that reports directly to the vice president. It's pretty far along through the development phases, clay models being already done and all. Now it's just a matter of testing the chasis, the hardware, etc. It's still unclear as to which chasis it's on though, either the Zeta or the Sigma-Lite. They've been testing cars on the Zeta chasis already, and from what I've heard the current Zeta is nothing like the Zeta of 10 months ago, it's more of a "Zetigma" per say, a new Zeta architecture that's been revised and taken cues from the Sigma-Lite. The engines have already been picked, and I can definitely say that I'll be happy with the choices when it comes out. We're looking at a 2007 at the EXTREME earliest, but it all depends on how far along they are. When the funding stopped for RWD vehicles to concentrate on the trucks and SUVs, the word around the street was that it was only awaiting the final go ahead to start with the tooling and such. If this is the case, if they gave the go ahead right after the NAIAS 2006 show (giving that they want to see our reaction to the vehicle), they could have the car in 18 months at the very least. With that in mind, you're looking at mid 2007, more realistically 2008. If the word on the street is correct, then it's really not that stretched.. but, I know by 2010 we'll have our Mustang competitor back.

Thruthfully, now that it's public knowledge about the Camaro at NAIAS 2006, my real interest for the show is the Bel Air remake that supposedly will be there...

Ehhh Brian, talked to my guy, turns out he is in the performace field. His division is in charge of All of the building of the C-6 R Corvette's, Cadillac CTS-V lemans cars and whatnot . Although they perform all of the Track testing on the prototypes and mules. He was saying that they have not recieved a camaro(or word of one anytime soon) for testing yet. Apparently they had a C-6 ZO6 in 03. So what i think he was sayin was that it was not practical that they could be brining it out anytime soon.
