(Yeah, this is old news for most of us, but it did confirm some things)
So, I finally got to talk to my buddy who's working on the Camaro in the Holden studio in Aussie land, and the conversation went something like this:
Me: So is the 6-cylinder gonna make 300 hp?
B: Nope. That's what marketing wants, but it looks like the six will be 260 hp or so. It's still being debated.
Me: That sucks. So what's the uplevel model going to be?
B: Don't think they've decided yet between Z28 or SS. But the top motor is really going to push 500 hp.
Me: LS7?
B: Supposedly.
Me: They going to make a mid model?
B: Don't know...haven't heard of one yet.
Me: What about the wheels? Did they jack the wheels like they usually do?
B: Nope. The clay has the wheels from the show car on it. Those will be the up level wheels though.
Me: Did they change anything on the body?
B: Very little. The average Joe won't see it. Changed the A-pillar slightly, but 99% of it is just like the show car.
Me: How's the interior look?
B: Still being packaged and argued over. That's where the most changes will be from the show car.
Me: Have you seen the convertible?
B: Yep. The vert clay is right next to the coupe. Wait until '10 for the vert. That one is smokin' hot.
Like I said...nothing really new...but it's good to hear the wheels stay and it will make enough hp to run with the Shelby Mustang.
Now if they can only make it for under $40K...
