Like the 5th gen subforum that this is posted in?

The SLP Blackwing - which is just the intake elbow/plenum and a high-flow filter - will definitely be an improvement over stock, but a full cold air intake would be a better choice. Unfortunately the full cold air intakes (Cold Air Inductions or Roto-Fab) are about twice as expensive as the SLP Blackwing. Up to you on what you want to do -- majority of 5th gen owners go with Roto-Fab or Cold Air Inductions. I have the Cold Air Inductions cold air intake and there was a noticable difference not only in the sound of the car (more engine noise - in a good way), but there was a noticeable "butt dyno" difference. I don't have a stock dyno #, but my car dyno'ed 270rwhp with only a cold air intake (Most people say they should dyno closer to 250-260rwhp stock).

I put a CAI on my Grand Prix GTP a while back. The only HP increase is at the very top of the rpm range. Don't expect to actually FEEL an increase in power. It will sound a little cooler, that's about it.
When in doubt, Whip it out !

Alright - mod #1 should be an oil catch can. You have a direct injected engine now. So why is a catch can important? In port-injected engines, gas sprays into the air flowing through the intake port, over the valve stem and valve, and down into the combustion chamber. When the gas flows over the valve stem and valve, the detergents in the gas help "scrub" away oil sludge and carbon build up that over time will rob engine performance.

With direct injected engines, the gas is injected directly into the combustion chamber. No more detergents "scrubbing" your valves. Oil sludge and carbon build up over time and your valves get grimy, stop sealing as well, and your engine doesn't perform as it should. It's such a gradual buildup, though, that you won't even notice that the engine isn't working as good.

The catch can captures the dirty oil that's being introduced into your intake manifold through the shitty PCV system and traps it in the can.

It should be mod #1. You'll want to empty the catch can every time you change your oil.

Important note #2 - You have an LLT engine. I hate to say this, but there's one issue that plagues the LLT. They are prone to chain tensioner and bearing failures. BUT - the easy way to make sure you don't have a problem is to let your engine oil get to full operating temp on a regular basis. Don't only do 2 mile commutes every single day.

Back to mods -- Once you have the catch can, then you can worry about the cold air intake, headers, and exhaust.

My recommendations (just google these names and you'll find them for sale online):

            Saikou Michi Can - $60
BBK Performance Exhaust ($700 in chrome, $800 in silver ceramic, $900 in stainless steel)
            VMAX Black Ice-olator Spacer - $150
            Resonated X-pipe
            MRT v2 Axkle back exhaust

That may have been your experience on the Grand Prix GTP, but that's definitely not the case with the Camaros with the LLT or LFX engine. A good cold air intake will make a noticeable difference.

I have been working with James at Cold Air Inductions recently and can vouch for them being a top notch suppler. All their stuff is flow tested and provides big improvements over the stock stuff. Made right up the road in Memphis Michigan too. If you don't have the money now - SAVE UP!
