Is There Any Cure For This?

Hello guys, i have a question that will probably sound stupid so please bear with me....On a 95 lt1 with aluminum heads, is there any adjustment for the lifters or are they hydraulic? The reason i ask is that since it has been getting cold, like in the 30's or 40's, when i start my motor my lifters sound like a bunch of marbles in a blender. This is only noticeable inside the car when accelerating but it is driving me crazy. Is there anything i can do to remedy this or is it just the lt1?....

Yes, they are hydraulic, but you set the final lash/preload by the nuts on the rockers.

Not to be rude, if you don't have the know how, pay to have it done. Depending on how old the lifters are, they could be plugged up a bit and won't pump up until the oil is warmed up/thinned out.

Supposedly around 2500 or so.

Right now im using 5w - 30.....

OK, if they reused the lifters after the rebuild then you might be SOL. If not, preload might be on the light side

would i be advised to replace the lifters? if so, what would u recommend keeping budget in mind?

Hard to say. I think replacement lifters are actually LS7 lifters now. Not sure what the costs are these days.

Years ago when I did most of my engine builds I got my lifters and injectors right off the assembly line I worked for Delphi as an intern and my old man ran the Coopersville and Burlingame plants. Life was good back then

Anyway, to do lifters means you have to pull the intake off. Not a simple swap.

That would have been awesome to have had access to that kind of stuff....My dad actually worked at GM back in the 70's and has some good stories. On the same note, my mom worked right next door at Hydra Matic.....

Anyway's you could recommend a decent set of lifters or a complete upgrade for my stock lt1 as far as lifters, rods, etc?

I believe LS7 lifters are the new normal, hydraulic roller lifter are pretty much backwards compatible as the bore size has stayed the same. I thought there was some talk about the LS7 lifters being slightly taller but not enough to affect the geometry enough to cause a problem. You'd have to do some reading up on it.

I just put ls7 lifters in my 95 lt1 when I did the cam swap. I ordered them from livernois but my little bro worked there so I got his discount. I think they were 100 or so. I've had no problems with them.
