there are still a few dealers around that dink around with cars these days its just not as popular because of the cost and time to them... but like the solstice i know a couple dealers actually are jumping on the v-8 game for that special interest and seeing how much they can charge when its done...
seems now anything "stock" performance adders are sent out to companies like GMMG, SLP, Saleen, ect... for the guys that want the warranty with the power its a good trade off... i know i would feel kinda leary about tossing anything on a brand new camaro if i was making the payments... ruin that nice new 100,000 mile warranty GM is givin now..lol

Yeah the Viper is Dodge's "supercar" Much like the Chevy Corvette or Ford GT
and they are meant to compete in that class

Cars like the Camaro & Mustang are whats known as the "Pony car" class and when they killed the Camaro and Firebird in 2002 the Mustang was the only car left in that "market niche". Thankfully GM ( and now chrysler ) realized their mistake and began plans to compete for that market again ( which is much larger) with the new camaro and challenger.

I personally find it amusing as hell to watch ford scramble like mad to make sure the Mustang isn't going to be immediatly trounced out of a market that they were previously sure they had a iron tight monopoly on.

Im not gonna tell your dad what to do but its generally not a good idea to buy the first year of a new generation, give them a year or so to work out all the bugs and come out with the special models. IM shooting for a 2011 myself. or maybe even a 2012 to get the "45th anniversary edition.

Wasn't the Ford Gt discontinued if i'm not mistaken. Other than that I think i like the challenger better than the viper. I love that classic muscle car look, and they kept all of the right sharp lines on the car.

saleen sucks all they can do is bodykits. same for roush. they're all in it for the money from dumb mustang owners that dont know anything about cars. the power they make out of 'tuning' or whatever it is they claim they do is a joke.

You obviously know NOTHING about Saleen then. May I refer you to the S7: http://www.saleen.com/saleen_s7_main.htm

That's not true really, both Roush and Saleen does a lot of good work for Ford and Mustang owners. There are some pretty potent Roush supercharged and Saleen Mustangs out there.

The Roushcharger is a pretty neat piece but the Saleen supercharger setup is even kooler. It has a built in intercooler between the SC and intake.

                        that's outdated tho...
i'm PRETTY SURE (nudge nudge, wink wink) that theres gonna be at LEAST one version of the new camaro with the LS7 under the hood. 550 hp, says the VERY reputable source. they also said the z28 is probably gonna be the top model like back in the first gen days, but he said they've been arguing so bitterly about it that it still might change.
and yes, the 6.2L will be in there.

makes sense too, cuz GM wont let anything be more powerful than the 'vettes, and with the blue devil goin after the viper, it'll still be the peak of performance.

lets just hope uncle sam doesnt piss in our porridge and institute all those CAFE and emissions standards... i wanna see how far the OEM's are willing to take this hp race

The LS7 being in the Camaro is old news, Lutz said it on January 9th during the unveiling in response to the Challenger pushing 500 hp, "We have the z06 engine to our disposal if we need it." The LS7 will be free for use once they discontinue the z06 with the release of the Corvette SS (god I hate that name) and it's supercharged LS3.

Regardless of which is on top, there's talk of having a standard V8, an upgraded v8, and then the hi-po v8.

While the magazines (everyone knows how much I loathe the printed magazines that are always 6 months late to the news) and Chevy's own website say LS2, I sway to LS3. Just my own interpretations from the rumor mill.
