2012 Z28 Spotted!

The 2011/2012 Camaro Z28 prototypes have lost some of its front end camouflage, exposing the grille, new lower front fascia (which now features a front lip spoiler which extends out very aggressively). The shape and size of the aggressive hood cowl (with scoops) can also be made out in the photos. To our eyes, it looks like there may be a scoop at the front of the cowl and 4 inlet scoops in the middle of the cowl. The silver hood pins could be there just for testing purposes.

A set of 20-inch wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires appear on the Z28 prototype and the brakes are those from the Cadillac CTS-V.

While the photos don't show it, the photographer also noticed a few pieces of body-colored tape across the trunk lid on this prototype, which may be covering the fastener points for a rear spoiler.

It appears that this particular Camaro is similar to the Camaros spotted recently by one of our members in the San Diego area.

Very nice! I really hope that Indianapolis Motor Speedway decal on the side is a sign that they're going to be lapping (though I know that's really wishful thinking)

If the engineer doing the handling tuning has his way this car will handle better then the CTS-V which has left a little bit of handling on the table.This is the same guy that did all the handling tuning on the CTS-V and he can really make a car fly..

Im thinking under that camo it appears to be very similar to the transformers one....you can see the hood scoop and similar shape in the bumper for the fog lights...plus the front spoiler

I truly think that Transformers 2 was originally meant to coincide with the release of the Z28 but due to the bankruptcy and stuff it didn't happen. I bet Transformers 3 will now.

We bring you visual proof of the Camaro Z28 prototype testing with the supercharged LSA motor (same as that used in the CTS-V). Even if one thinks it's suspicious that a test prototype's engine would have any sort of engine cover bearing the name of the engine, the motor underneath does appear to be that LSA upon visual inspection.

For those not familiar with the LSA engine, it's a 6.2L supercharged engine SAE certified at 556bhp @ 6100rpm and 551 lb-ft torque @ 3800rpm

Also seen clearly for the first time is the design of the Camaro Z28 prototype hood. There looks to be a two-row air scoop design (we've reposted an older photo from the top-down angle for an additional view). Keep in mind however, there's no guarantees that this is the final hood design of the Camaro Z28.

And finally, a Z28 prototype has been spotted in what appears to be aqua blue metallic (or a similar blue color). Previous prototypes have all been red.
