Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Preview of new Trans Am based Lingenfelter Concept 2010 Camaro LTA to be shown at 200
Now I am not taking away from Lingenfelter that they did a good job on the car, But I got a problem with this car it’s just a 5th gen Camaro mocked up like a Firebird its not a real bird, and them using T/A is a mockery of the Trans am name because there is no more Pontiac and no more Trans am or Firebird I wish people would stop beating a dead horse the car will never come back because Pontiac is gone and it is now part of history you cant go back to what is used to be. I wish them the best of luck with the car that is just my two cents on the car.
^^^ Can not and will not argue with any of that.
But the only avenue Pontiac fans have is to live vicariously through the Camaro platform, even though Pontiac is dead.
Question is...for the hard core Pontiac fan, is it worth it?

I think it is because I take it in and out all the time, the rubber has just stretched out, especially at the bottom where it is really thin. It annoys me more then anything.

I won't argue with any of that either, I agree Pontiac is dead and even this won't live up to what could've been. But I would pose this to think about.......
If as an owner I don't go around bragging that I own a 5th Gen TA, but instead acknowledge that it is nothing more than a modified Camaro, and modified to my taste.
How is this then any different than the thousands of other Camaros running around that are modified to the owners taste????

I beg to differ, we will see when the government gets off GMs back if pontiac comes back. I have a strong feeling it will return. The only reason they got rid of it was because the government made them thinking it was a making a bad image for the company. And as for the T/A, history has a way of repeating itself...the car will return.
GM still owns the pontiac name for a reason, if they did not intend to bring it back they would have sold it off like the other brands . I also have some insider knowlege.
And really, when we get down to the basics, wasn't a Firebird really nothing more than a Camaro with a few different body panels and *maybe* a different engine? At least in the 4th gen years, it really wasn't more than just body panel and interior changes. Not meaning it in a disrespectful way - but let's face it.

Of course they were similiar a lot cheaper for GM to use the same basic platform. For the differences you mentioned, however, I will never own a camaro and always own a firebird. They each have very different body features, firebird has always been a little more over the top while camaros were always sort of bland IMO.
Excuse me if I'm wrong but weren't both cars introduced at the same time, 1967? Everyone always thinks the firebird was an afterthought because trans ams were 1969.. but the firebird began in 67...
I guess in the end I sort of agree with you, and this is the reason I would be glad to drive one of these. Yea deep down it would still be a camaro platform, but it would be a firebird to me

Actually Derek, the Camaro did come before the Firebird......Mainly because at the time John Delorean was in charge of Pontiac and wanted a two-seater sports car instead of a copy of the Camaro. In the end he lost that battle because GM needed the Camaro platform to be more profitable, and therefore they forced him into making a car off the same platform. When Pontiac got seriously into the game they had only 6 months to make a Firebird out of the Camaro, the Camaro would end up coming to market 130-140 days before the Firebird.
Now with that said, the best advertisement ever would be this line........
The Magnificent Five..........Leave it to Pontiac to do it right!

Same can technically be said - that the Camaro AND the Firebird are nothing more than the same car with different body panels - but negative ghostrider on the Firebird part. The Firebird did come out in 1967 but the Camaro was truly before the Firebird. Camaro was publicly debuted in September 26, 1966 but the only numbers I can find for Firebird says the first one publicly debuted in December of 1966.
